About Creative Commons licensing

When you license your tweets under a Creative Commons license you make it easy for other people to find out if and how they can use them. If you have a blog, or you post photos to Flickr, you'll probably already be using Creative Commons licensing.

Public Domain Dedication

The license that you choose is entirely your decision. We license our tweets under a Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication license but there are other choices.

Other licenses you might consider

CC Zero Waiver New! CC Zero Waiver: Using a CC Zero Waiver, you waive all copyrights and related or neighboring rights that you have over your tweets, such as your moral rights (to the extent waivable), your publicity or privacy rights, rights you have protecting against unfair competition, and database rights and rights protecting the extraction, dissemination and reuse of data. Attribution Attribution: Lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your tweets, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original tweet. Use license
Attribution Share Alike Attribution Share Alike: Lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your tweets even for commercial reasons, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. Use license
Attribution No Derivatives Attribution No Derivatives: This license allows for redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to you. Use license
Attribution Non-Commercial Attribution Non-Commercial: This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your tweets non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge you and be non-commercial, they don't have to license their derivative works on the same terms. Use license
Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike: This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your tweets non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. Others can download and redistribute your work just like the by-nc-nd license, but they can also translate, make remixes, and produce new stories based on your work. Use license
Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives: This license is the most restrictive of our six main licenses, allowing redistribution. This license is often called the free advertising license because it allows others to download your works and share them with others as long as they mention you and link back to you, but they can't change them in any way or use them commercially.
